If you want a world class 12 string guitar you have to consider a Breedlove model. They are renowned as one of the finest 12 string instruments around. You could of course go for Breedlove’s Master Class model the Classic XII which we think is the pinnacle of 12 strings, but if you want similar performance with out giving up any of the beauty at a lower price point you can consider the S-Series 12 string SJ22.
Based on the same Jumbo body with a sharp cutaway as the Master Class version this SJ22-12 comes with a beautiful Stripped Ebony body and clean Sitka Spruce top. It is bound in Ivoroid with an S-Series Rosette. The Stripped Ebony is really beautiful with nice streaks of Mocha and heart wood all along the sides and beautifully book-matched on the back.
Again similar to the Master Class version the string set up is low and easy to play. This is a real advantage with a 12 string instrument. The neck is mahogany with an Ebony fret board and off set dot inlay.
It has perfect intonation and was easy to tune. When played softly it sounds wonderfully harmonic and rich but lean on it with a stiff pick and the volume and bass roars from this guitar sounding more like a grand piano in all its glory. Just wonderful and at a more approachable price level.
